Champions of Freedom: The Foundational Beliefs and Victories of Alliance Defending Freedom
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is a prominent legal organization committed to
protecting religious freedom, free speech, marriage and family, parental
rights, and the sanctity of life. Founded in 1994, ADF has become the largest
organization of its kind globally. While their work is rooted in Christian
ideals, they advocate for the rights of individuals from all faiths and backgrounds.

ADF has also been at the forefront of defending students’ civil rights in schools. They recently
filed a case against a Virginia school board that implemented policies based on
Critical Race Theory, asserting that these teachings violated students’ civil
rights by treating them differently based on their race and forcing them to
support ideas that conflicted with their moral, philosophical, and religious beliefs.
The organization has achieved significant victories at the Supreme Court, with 14 direct
representations and involvement in 72 victories. One notable case was
Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, where ADF defended a
cake artist’s right to operate their business in line with their religious beliefs.
Alliance Defending Freedom’s efforts have been widely
recognized by respected institutions worldwide. Their international arm, ADF International, holds
accreditation from prominent organizations such as the UN Economic and Social
Council, the European Parliament and Commission, and the Organization of
American States. They also have a participatory status with the EU’s Agency for Fundamental Rights.
Alliance Defending Freedom continues to champion religious freedom and constitutional rights,
securing victories and defending the principles enshrined in the Constitution.
