Mike Fucci Brings Decades of Corporate Leadership Experience to Acadia Healthcare Board Position

Acadia Healthcare has expanded its board with the addition of an experienced corporate leader, naming Mike Fucci, Acadia Healthcare announced in a company statement. The appointment adds a ninth director to the Franklin-based behavioral health provider’s board and underscores the company’s emphasis on governance, talent strategy and risk oversight as it pursues growth.

Fucci joins Acadia Healthcare as an independent director after a long career at Deloitte. He retired in September 2020 as Chairman Emeritus of Deloitte U.S., following service as Executive Chairman from 2015 to 2019. His tenure at Deloitte spanned decades, including a period as Chief Operating Officer of Deloitte Consulting from 2009 to 2015 and earlier leadership of human capital and advisory practices. Fucci also served on both Deloitte U.S. and Deloitte Global boards and led key committees focused on risk, regulatory matters and executive compensation.

Acadia’s board chair highlighted Fucci’s expertise in human resource transformation and corporate talent strategies as complementary to the company’s existing governance capabilities. With broad experience in organizational strategy, leadership succession planning and risk mitigation, Fucci is expected to support Acadia as it executes its operational and strategic priorities amid evolving market demands.

In addition to his consulting and operational roles, Fucci established and co-chaired a Board Leadership Forum that convenes Fortune 500 board chairs and lead directors to examine governance trends and research. He also provided oversight of philanthropic education initiatives through his chairmanship of the Deloitte Foundation. These activities reflect a career focused on leadership development, board effectiveness and institutional stewardship—attributes that align with Acadia’s stated objective to deliver long-term value for stockholders while addressing growing behavioral health needs.

Fucci expressed readiness to support Acadia during a period of heightened demand for behavioral health services. The company has emphasized its role as a leading provider in the sector; as of June 30, 2020, Acadia operated 589 behavioral healthcare facilities with approximately 18,200 beds across 40 states, the United Kingdom and Puerto Rico (company site: ). Its services span inpatient psychiatric hospitals, specialty treatment programs, residential centers and outpatient clinics.

Board additions such as Fucci reflect a broader trend among healthcare providers to bolster governance with executives who bring private-sector operational and human capital expertise. For Acadia, the combination of clinical scale and enhanced corporate oversight aims to balance quality of care with organizational resilience and strategic growth.

Market observers noted that Fucci’s background in managing complex professional services organizations positions him to contribute to Acadia’s oversight of regulatory risk, executive performance evaluation and talent development. As Acadia continues to navigate post-pandemic demand and regulatory environments, the board’s expanded composition seeks to provide a range of perspectives to guide policy and execution.

Fucci’s appointment is effective immediately, increasing the proportion of independent directors on Acadia’s board and reinforcing the company’s commitment to experienced, governance-focused leadership as it advances its behavioral healthcare mission.
